MSTRKRFT don’t really need an intro. Their signature sound has been uniting hipsters on the dance floor for a while now. And their remixes always spread like wildfire…. like from the internet to the dance floor to your little sister’s Myspace. They are the constant cool.

Whatever. I had little hope for their debut album The Looks. I thought it’d be typical MSTRKRFT… cowbell heavy, crunchy synths, detatched vocals, vocoders. You know the drill. But. I’m totally surprised and blown away. No matter what, MSTRKRFT has a knack for keeping it fresh and cutting edge. I don’t throw this around but: The Looks is easily a favorite of ‘06.

“Street Justice” sounds like something out of The Warriors. Like part Miami Vice, part club, part gang fight.. you know, a typical Saturday night. It never gets as tough or sinister as DFA1979… MSTRKRFT keeps it friendly enough for the gayest dance club. But. Not a track to miss… for the beats alone.

11. They make good songs, and good remix. I like, but this is not like Justice, Justice is a band really really single. ;) French, never like the others.
    But, MSTRKRFT make a really good sound.

    Are you sure this is “Street Justice”?

    I just went to their myspace, and they have the same song, but it’s labeled as a POLYSICS remix.

19. erg. this track is extremely uninteresting. boring, like an updated version of the london funk allstars. And I swear, if another band is likened in some fashion to the movie “the warriors”, I’m taking some hostages.

23. I managed to find a leak of this Album today and I have to say it’s stunning. I want to keep it all to myself, it’s one of those albums you’d feel proud to introduce people too. Of course its MSTKRFT so obviously it’s going to become massive.
    My favourite album of 2006 currently.
