Omg. Forget for a moment that Thom Yorke leaked all over the internerd today. What is about pop stars covering other pop stars that makes my heart go wild? Nelly Furtado did an acoustic cover of Gnarls Barkley’s international hit “Crazy” on BBC Jo Whiley’s Live Lounge. This is one of those instant classic live moments… really more Folklore than “Maneater”. Two of pop’s biggest collide. Oh that Nelly!

It starts off so very beautifully… but is not so good, sadly, for the rest of the song, which is less suited to this style of cover.

Terrible… How she changes the line endings on a low note just terrible. I couldn’t handle listening to more than 3 verses before I Had to stop it.

I think singers are doing way too much cover song themes these days. Very few will ever be close to the original and it’s fun to hear and old or older song have a cover, if it’s going to be dom=ne but to cover Gnarles Barkley so soon after his popularity…. Don’t see the point! Call me Crazy….. :)~

Im sorry but the original is crap. It’s annoying and too catchy. Make’s you want to throw something on the tv and radio.
The kook’s version and Nelly’s version is way better. They make it beautiful on a whole new level.

I can’t believe people don’t like this cover. OK it’s not better than the origional but i don’t think nelly was after that. This is just a beautiful version of a great song. I like this version alot and think she did an ace cover.

Who does she think she is?? Her talent is, at best, marginal, and her attitude is nothing but sheer EGOISM. I can’t stand her material, and I can’t stand her…….she butchered the half time show at the Grey Cup, and I sincerely hope that people see her as she really is – a shallow, publicity seeking, egotistical wannabe…….get a life Furtado, cause you’re NOT a musician.

So she took a song that some people liked and made it a little different. I cannot say as I blame her. Crazy was FAR too overplayed on the radio and on ringtones and by the time Furtado did her own cover, it was time for something fresh- and I’m not even a fan of her! You may like this new version of the song, you may not…. they are two different songs that happen to share the same lyrics and general tune. She is not a musician, she is an artist. She uses her voice to paint what she wants the viewer to see. Haunting though it may be, I think she does a fine job of singing this version. She has a great voice and it is the song I am listening to… not watching the egotistical wannabe, as some may call her. If you can’t separate the music from the person and analyze the music by itself for itself (a phenomenological approach), then you honestly probably should not be sharing your opinions to those that are really interested in the music. Good job Nelly, good job Gnarles.

I love this version.
For those who are looking for the guitar chord, you can use the Gnarls Barkley version. But Nelly plays it with Capo on first fret! Very easy and fun to play.
