The Whitest Boy Alive
posted by TravisYou guys know I’m like a total Erlend Øye geek. So it should be no surprise that I am on the edge of my seat for his latest project, The Whitest Boy Alive. I feel like a total fan boy in a super lame way, but oh well.

The Whitest Boy Alive is a slight departure from both Øye’s solo work and Kings Of Convenience… which is no surprise considering he has never been afraid to experiment. Though don’t expect to be totally surprised because Erlend Øye’s naive, sensitive vocals are still totally on par. Though this isn’t all about Øye. The Whitest Boy Alive is certainly a band effort… and has all the markings of a band. Interesting to note that they started out as an electronic trio but eventually shifted over to more of a rock sound using “real” intruments. Their songs often feel like they are electronic though… guitars or not.
There has been a lot of hype starting to build around The Whitest Boy Alive… as there should be. Some of you will remember them from their “Inflation” 12″ a couple years ago. The Whitest Boy Alive’s debut album, Dreaming, comes out June 21st, 2006 via their own label Bubbles. “Burning”, their single, will be out May 26th.
