But then a day later she premiered the video for “Maneater” on Germany’s TRL… if “Promiscuous” is how a club video shouldn’t be then “Maneater” is how a club video should be. Whatever, videos aside — both songs are still hot.
We all know by now that Nelly Furtado is going to have the crossover album of 2006. It is an unavoidable success story. Kids… some greedy record exec is sitting around smiling right now because he just bagged the pop, urban and club markets. Hell, even the indie kids are starting to turn their heads.
You’re going to be totally inundated with this song and video… hopefully you’re not sick of it yet. Perfect pop.

Perfect pop! That’s right. But I don’t like it. She looks like an average slut in this video and there’s nothing left of that beautiful bird! :(
I know I’m pretty cheesy but the sound doesn’t please me as well. I guess in 3 months every pop act will sound like that. It’s that new Indie+Rap sound. Not really spectacular. And as I said before: The video sux!
But you can’t argue about taste! So…

That is a GOD-AWFUL song–and a far less sexier ripoff off X-Tina’s “Dirty” video.
She doesn’t have anywhere close to the talent she needs to be able to pull off I.D. switches.

Firstly of all, I LOVE that song. I heard about it a few months ago, and it’s been on my playlist ever since.
HOWEVER, I had something very different envisioned for the video. That was just so trite. It reminded me of the Janet Jackson video for “Don’t Stop”. I wish video directors would stop it with the “warehouse underground dance club” thing. Because I sure as hell am very sick of it.

Thanks for posting this video on Bigstereo. I’ve been with Nelly since 2000 and I’m loving the direction she’s going in. She is to 2006 what Gwen was to 2004-05. However, mainstream and sell-outish that sounds. :-/ She needs to blow up anyway!!! Can’t wait to see her on tour, finally.

and to think i’ve been hating on Maneater for wks now, this sounds much much better. I look forward to see good things happen for her and this album. I thought her last one was a little dark, so this change of tempo is nice.

i really like her second lp “folklore” and the style of the music… but this is not the nelly furtado i like… does she really need to show this more skin? her music was good, i like this song, too… but “folklore” was perfect! actually, i don’t like the new song “promiscious”…. hmm, i’ll buy the album and see what will happen =/

Ok first of all, I’m gonna agree with everybody in one way or another. I loved her first album and the second one was pretty good, but not as good as the first one so I am a little disappointed about the third album. It’s not great, but you have to give it to her: She experiments a lot. She is definately not as original as she was, but she is still better than most and Gwen Stefani and Britney Spears can suck it. I really didn’t like the Gnarles Barkley cover just because she changed it completely. It would’ve been really great if she left it alone and just added without taking away from it. I’ll agree that she sold out a little, but I still really like her. Thanks for listening. :)
