Midnight Juggernauts

Indie, or to be more specific electro-rock, has become as misleading of a label as Alternative was in the 90s. What makes people choose certain genres for the music they like? Sure, if I were to lump Midnight Juggernauts into a genre, I’d probably say they’re electro-rock. But seriously guys, what does that mean? You could call The Killers electro-rock. You could call DFA1979 electro-rock. You could probably even push it and call Goldfrapp electro-rock (at least maybe their live show). So my point is — electro-rock is bullshit. But it gives you some idea what to expect from Midnight Juggernauts… guitars and synth. Of course, Midnight Juggernauts has little to do with the Killers or DFA1979 or Goldfrapp.
Midnight Juggernauts - “Raised By Wolves”
Midnight Juggernauts recently released “45 and Rising” as a limited edition 12″ on Cut Copy’s label Cutter Records. “45 And Rising” features a remix of the title track by Cut Copy and a b-side “Raised By Wolves” which was previously released on WCS Records. Cutter Record’s first release was the delicious “Wet & Wild” by KIM of The Presets. So there is a little bit of Australian electro-rock (omg I hate typing that) inbreeding going on here — which is a good thing.
Purchase “45 And Rising” @ Juno.
Midnight Juggernauts made Fat Planets’ Top 20 Australian Bands list. So — no doubt keep an eye out for them because Fat Planet is a tastemaker.
Cut Copy, The Presets, Wolfmother, Wolf & Cub, Midnight Juggernauts. If music this good keeps coming out of Australia, I’m just going to have to pack up and move there. This is getting nuts. Lucky for all us, Australian music is being exported.
