So IAMX is back with a vengeance. Chris couldn’t make his sound more beautiful and elegant, especially on this new release ‘The Alternative’. Bringing back sounds of coke phases and stripper poles he please’s your senses and satisfies your want for more. The sophomore album does nothing more than grow on you like a vine and suddenly takes over your brain. At first listen all I could do was want to listen to it again, even though I hadn’t even finished listened to it. In general it is safe to say sophomore albums tend to disappoint, with wanting more of the original sound. It is quite the opposite with ‘The Alternative’. Not only does this album have songs you can dance your ass off to, it has songs you can definately sit at home and cry to.
Once in a while a band comes out that touches you in a way that only a close friend can. Listening to IAMX definately brings that familiarity, soothes yr anger and releases endorphins. Growing up listening to industrial and goth music it was hard to swallow the first time I listened to pop after all those years and began to like it. IAMX brings you back to those goth days but covers it up with pop anthems and dancey beats. If I had something like ‘The Alternative’ back in those days I know it would have changed my life forever.
Is it too early to claim this album as a classic? I really don’t think so.
Get your hands on this album and enjoy it like your first high and your first low.
