Uffie, Uffie, Uffie. Yeah, Uffie has me. I think I’ve read about Uffie now on like six different blogs on my blog roll, so I know it’s time to really start paying attention.
Even though Uffie has little in common with M.I.A., she kinda feels like that first time I heard the Sri Lankan. Like, you know you’ve heard all the elements before, but they’ve just never sounded so good or quite like that. Seriously, to tie it together: I haven’t felt this excited about a track since I first heard “Galang.” It’s slowly starting to happen, but she’s about to be everywhere. Or at least she should be everywhere.
Uffie isn’t doing anything that L’Trimm or Salt N Peppa or even Avenue D haven’t already explored, but she’s armed with some of the world’s best producers/remixers (Mr. Oizo, Sebastian). Uffie is set to take it over.
The Curtis Vodka remix isn’t quite as hot as that Sebastian remix, but he drops Bananarama in there which earns some points. It doesn’t even matter that vocoders are played out:

Plus, she’s dating Feadz, so it’s even more like MIA/Diplo, except Uffie is a Miami teenager, not a Sri Lankan whatever like MIA.
I saw Uffie perform last week, and while I was super excited to see her, she’s one of the worst performers I’ve seen! No talent, but lots of connections and good producers. There’s so many better female artists out there…

I know exactly what you mean with the M.I.A. analogy. I tried to grab the two mp3s linked off the Hype Machine hosted by ‘Pardon My Freedom’. It seems like they’ve removed the files though. Bummer.

Uffie is such good pop. And she’s fun live, I saw her in Paris at le Paris Paris and she was absolutely charming.

i’m psyched to have this curtis vodka mix… i kinda like it more than the sebastiAn mix… which is saying a lot… but I kinda think this synth heavy/ vocoder version works for the song better than the crunch bass sebastiAn always provides so wonderfully.

I think Uffie is great,havent seen him live tho.Sebastian remix is realy heavy,Curtis remix suprised me also.Hope Uffie will continue to work with awesome producers!!!

does anyone know if there are two versions of the sebastian mix, one a little heavier, darker (with a chopped up vocal break in the middle before a big drop…) I heard it on one of the podcasts from northsouthdivide (no.2) but can’t seem to get it.

Uffie sounds great on record but I also saw her in a show and it was really bad. She was a really bad performer… I guess being with the greatest producers can only help you out to a certan extent.
