Dsico That No-Talent Hack

March 29th, 2006

You guys probably remember Dsico from a few years ago. He was ripping apart pop songs, destroying them really, and then putting them back together. He also had that 12″ of electro cover songs covering the likes of Beyonce and Nirvana. It was a limited edition pressing but maybe you could find a copy lying [...]

The Gossip

March 27th, 2006

The Gossip were in fine form last night at the Middle East in Cambridge (Boston). Lots and lots of dancing… nothing like a crowd who loves the band. It was one of the better Gossip shows I’ve been to. They played a nice mix of old and new stuff. Ya’ll already know I’m a fan…
So [...]

The Fever

The Fever

March 25th, 2006

The Fever is back! They are coming back stronger than ever. Their last album was a great pick me up, and this one has a little darker edgier side to it, but still puts a smile on your face. The album has that garage, echoey sound to it and it just gets better everytime you [...]

Teenage Bad Girl

Teenage Bad Girl

March 25th, 2006

With Justice taking over, it seems (or at least feels like) robot rock is set to explode. Which means we’re about to be introduced to a lot of Justice-esque artists. This isn’t a bad thing though. Of course.
Teenage Bad Girl is French duo Guillaume Manbell & Greg Kazubski. Story goes something like: they met on [...]

Lenny Kravitz + The Presets

March 24th, 2006

I don’t know… I guess this has been up for a while? But a certain vodka company has a current advertising campaign offering up a digi-ep of Lenny Kravitz’s “Breathe” with remixes from 10 different artists.
I know, I know… you’re saying, “Lenny Kravitz hasn’t been cool since 1997.” You’re right… but it’s free. Yeah [...]

Zetena

March 24th, 2006

We get a ton (a ton) of mp3s emailed to us. Often, it’s hard to sift through them all. But sometimes… sometimes something so different comes along that it is impossible not to notice it.
This is part of the cryptic email:
This is my track with my kid. Taste this if Uve got a few minutes…
And [...]

New Young Pony Club

March 23rd, 2006

So yeah I know I wrote about them a while ago, and I know you all know about them already, and I know you all have their seven inches, ok fine. I have kept this song under wraps too long. Here’s a remix of their newest single.
Yeah I know, you already heard it.
New Young Pony [...]

Avenue D

Avenue D

March 23rd, 2006

Avenue D has a new video for their semi-political, tongue in cheek “USA=#1.” The video looks like a cross between School House Rocks and U.S. Propaganda Films…
<sarcasm>Yay USA!</sarcasm>
See what the hoopla is all about and watch it here.

The Go! Team

The Go! Team

March 22nd, 2006

One problem with seeing a band more than once is you have certain expectations. And usually your expectations are not met because it is easy to remember something better than it actually is. Not the case with The Go! Team. I went in not believing they could stand up to the last time I saw [...]

Yelle

Yelle

March 22nd, 2006

Yelle is quite a mystery right now. I have been trying to contact her, she wrote back once and that’s it. I want to know more, I want to share with the world what Yelle is capable of. Yelle= Yeah + Elle. She is a native french kisser. She enjoys Gillette as much as [...]

IAMX

IAMX

March 21st, 2006

IAMX is none other than hot shit Chris Corner of Sneaker Pimps. You might have had a listen to his last album ‘Kiss + Swallow’. Its an amazing record with haunting vocals and ear hurting dance beats. IAMX has everything Sneaker Pimps lacked. Maybe he is more comfortable on his own now? Some of the [...]

Lady Sovereign

Lady Sovereign

March 17th, 2006

Maybe it’s time for another Sov track.
Lady Sovereign bounces back and forth between being a joke and a savior. Remember way back to like a year ago when everybody was just latching onto grime and acting all like it was going to be the next big thing? And all the attention was on Lady [...]

Uffie

Uffie

March 16th, 2006

Uffie, Uffie, Uffie. Yeah, Uffie has me. I think I’ve read about Uffie now on like six different blogs on my blog roll, so I know it’s time to really start paying attention.
Even though Uffie has little in common with M.I.A., she kinda feels like that first time I heard the Sri Lankan. Like, you [...]

The Grates

The Grates

March 15th, 2006

The Grates quietly released the first single off their debut album, Gravity Won’t Get You High.
But don’t get too excited yet.
“19-20-20″ is currently only available from iTunes in Australia. “19-20-20″ follows closely to the post-pop-punk tracks fans are used to from their much celebrated ep, The Ouch. The Touch.
For those of us not [...]

Goldfrapp + Leno

Goldfrapp showed off their “Ooh La La” last night on Leno. Maybe you missed it?
Watch: Goldfrapp – “Ooh La La” (Live on Leno) (ipod)
Goldfrapp finally got around to releasing Supernature here in the States. I know most of you already bought it in on import. But whatever… it has a bonus dvd or something.

Envelopes

Envelopes

March 14th, 2006

20 Jazz Funk Greats sum up Envelopes’ newest single, “Free Jazz”, perfectly:
It sounds like the Go Team if they decided to self-actualise themselves as Stereo Total on a pleasant picnic in the lounge psyche garden where Stereolab used to have fun in 10 years ago.

At a great risk of becoming a video blog…
Watch: Envelopes – [...]

The Streets

March 13th, 2006

Lately, I’m starting to feel like I post way too many videos. But here’s Mike Skinner aka The Streets’ latest for “When You Wasn’t Famous.”

Watch: The Streets – “When You Wasn’t Famous” (Windows | Real)
In other news, The Streets and Bloc Party are headlining Vice’s Intonation Festival in Chicago this summer.

Morning Runner

March 12th, 2006

“Burning Bridges” could easily fall into the ‘Coldplay-already-did-that’ category… but somehow Morning Runner manages to avoid that pitfall. It doesn’t matter what category this falls into. It’s just plain good. Maybe though, I’m just a sucker for backwards videos or piano tunes that turn into indie rock anthems.

Kudu

Kudu

March 10th, 2006

However cool you think you are, Kudu is like fifty times cooler.
Sometimes an album drops in your lap that you just have to stop whatever you are doing and listen. Kudu is this way. Whatever I was expecting was totally not what I got. But then how could you expect Kudu? What could have [...]
