Maximo Park + Cristian Vogel

Maximo Park

It’s a bit surprising that I never wrote about one of my favorite albums last year — Maximo Park’s A Certain Trigger. Maybe I read too much praise about it, and really, what did little ol’ me have to add to the chorus?

This track is off the latest UK single, “I Want You To Stay.” Cristian Vogel and Maximo Park seem to be an unlikely pairing, but it works. Not as tech heavy as Cristian Vogel can be… but there are certainly some interesting textures in this mix.

Listen: Maximo Park - “I Want You To Stay” (Cristian Vogel Remix) (mp3)

Mr. James Headphonesex has the Field Music remix which is a totally different sound than the original.

Nothing to do with the music, but as far as album art goes, I fucking love the cover to Maximo Park’s album and singles. They’re just all so cool. And I love that they have kept the theme throughout the entire stretch of releases.

You guys are on the up and up, so I’m sure you all know this, but Maximo Park’s b-side collection, Missing Songs, hits stores tomorrow in the U.S.

  1. you ever seen “american psycho”? the artist, whose name eludes me now, (of mexican descent, i believe) had a variation of the “apply some pressure” painting in the movie. great artwork, but very hard to find, and expensive.

  2. Robert Longo…but the bloke that does the park stuff is a photographer called Ian Davies, also does various commericals/adverts etc. But I’m guessing he took his inspration for the album work off Longo, who had people pose for him, he would photograph then paint, bloody brilliant, but as you said, his work costs a hell of a lot and are real rare now-a-days
