Codebreaker

Codebreaker brings the funk to nu-electro. If you look at most – if not all – contempory electro acts, they’re missing funk. But please go back to the source: Afrika Bambaataa, Cybotron, whoever. They all had at least an ounce of funk. Codebreaker sound like what would’ve happened had electro stayed electro and never evolved into contemporary r&b and hip-hop. They’re like that missing link. But Codebreaker doesn’t just deliver electro-funk. There are some well crafted pop and rock sounds on their album, What Is This Earth Love?. It’s like one of those cheesy radio stations that promises the best of the 70s, 80s and 90s, but unlike those radio stations Codebreaker really delivers. In a good way.
