The Tough Alliance
31 January 2006 :: posted by Rchrd Oh?!
The Tough Alliance came to me like a gift from the gods. I am not really sure how this cd got in my hands. I was putting away some dvd’s of mine and this burnt cd just titled ‘TTA’ written in sharpie fell out. I was kind of thinking it was maybe a random mix cd I had made. I put it on my computer and took a listen. It was fucking brilliant, some songs sounded very familiar. All the cd said was ‘TTA’ so I had no idea what the name of the band actually was. I tried looking up all kinds of things and finally found some lyrics posted on a swedish blog. I went to the page that I linked up top of this band and as you can see it really doesn’t help much. After much research I found that this band is Swedish and has not released any full lengths. Luckily the cd I have has 18 of their songs.
I am assuming that maybe one of my swedish friends that has stayed with me in the past year might have left it. As a little gift maybe? a mistake? I don’t know, but I thank you very very much.
The cd is amazing, bringing lots of little hints of Looper, The Go! Team, Clor, and Figurine. It is synthpop at it’s finest. Did you see this picture I posted of them? They look like swedish gay porn stars. Take a listen and let me know what you think, or tell me anything you know about them.
Listen: The Tough Alliance- “Koka-Kola Veins” (mp3)

hey
theyre signed to the swedish record label servicerecords (jens lekman, jose gonzales) http://www.srvice.com. have karaoke stage performances swinging baseball bats and dancing like stoned penguins while trying to pick a fight with every single one in the audience. they released a full length this spring called The New School which is the best swedish record ever. get it!

Well, actually they left Service Records last year. They posted a fantastic remix of The Embassy’s (who are still signed to Service) “Some Indulgence” on their site just before Christmas which is well worth hunting down (look for: TTA does Embassy: Now That’s What I Call Indulgence)

I saw them last summer at a festival in Östersund, Sweden. They were so fucking great.
They entered the stage over an hour late. One of them stood in the back dancing and the other one was miming badly to the music. They played 3 songs and then went off stage. I saw a number of people fighting in the packed audience.
Brilliant

I saw them last year at Arvikafestivalen in Sweden. There they played like 10 songs, I think, and they played singback through the whole thing. The blonde guy came up to auidence and started touching peoples faces while the other guy kept singing and then the blonde guy started hugging and kissing the singing-guy. I will remember them forever. They leave a sort of a weird feeling afterwards.

Tough Alliance R great. Koka Kola Veins is my fave of the three featured here. I defintely hope they come to the States and drop a domestic LP in the future. Heck, I’d even settle for an EP.

haha, i’m sorry it’s not like i don’t like america or something (america is great!) but, seriously? gay porn stars? I am a swedish girl and I think they are very manly and sexy, most people do.
manly doesnt have to be giant pants and a more subtler attitude doesnt have to be unmanly, they are very distinct boyish and manly. :)

or queer, whatever. they are both, which everything sexy is, we have both feminine and masculine sides in us, but not not manly, both most manly and queer. i’m very heterosexual.
