Polysics
25 January 2006 :: posted by TravisEverybody is calling Polysics the Japanese equivalent to Devo. They’ve had a few record releases here in the States, but have yet to really catch on. Nerds, that is all set to change. Polysics are back with their own hyper electro-punk-synth-pop that will have you dancing and screaming and pulling your hair out. I swear. Sure, it’s probably a little too abrasive for your mom, but since when has that stopped you?
I once had a conversation with a good friend from Spain who explained to me why Europe and the rest of the world fancies American music - or to be more specific music with lyrics that aren’t of the listeners native tongue. He said, “it’s not about the lyrics but rather the music that they listen.” That puzzled me at the time because it seems Americans are opposite. We tend to tackle lyrics before music and most find it hard to accept music with foreign lyrics into their libraries. Maybe. Anyway. My point here is that it doesn’t matter if the Polysics sing in Japanese or English or Swahili. It’s all so obvious about the music. Well, it’s all so obvious about the music and the matching jump suits.
