18 January 2006 :: posted by TravisIf you’re counting this is my fourth post on The Sunshine Underground. I’ve been trying not to write this post because really - I don’t want you guys to think I’m obessed or something. But.. well maybe I am.
In about five seconds you all are going to be Arctic Monkeys who? The Sunshine Underground just released “Commercial Underground”, their second single, on Monday and it’s undeniable dance punk pop. Sure they have the worst name since Bloc Party, but who cares.
“Commercial Underground” took a little while to grow on me. It was just a little too radio friendly. Forget that for a second though because the b-side “The Way It Is” is where it is at - funky bass, hand claps, fake laser guns. Singer Craig Wellington’s swooping vocals are the icing on the cake. It will own you.

When i first heard the radio version i thought itwas the rapture which is the highest of complements.. which i guess a lot of others did..
However ive seen both bands now and these guys are in a different league amazing live shows aswell.. who trhe fuck are the arctic monkey’s…

Hey Mike, if you live in DC, check out the Liberation Dance Party at DC9 on Fridays. They’ve been playing The Sunshine Underground since February.

I first heard these guys bout six months ago and have been banging on about them ever since!! i believe i too may becoming a little obsessed! i have been impressed with every track i have heard so far.. ‘Somebody’s always getting in the way’ is an absolute favorite of mine..check it out!!

have seen this fantastic band 3 times now. they are a must see live band. AWESOME. they rock the crowd. one day they will be massive all around the world.

just seen the boys supporting the subways in cambridge, and let me tell you they are a band i will be looking out for in the future, they were really good live. As Sarah says they will be awesome around the world soon!!!!!

I thought I as the only one obsessed with them? Saw them back in April and they were the best live band I have ever seen, and I’ve been going to gigs for 20 years! I am amazed they are not famous by now, the album is released on Monday (28th Aug) go buy it, you’ll love it.
