Chicago duo of Neil Rosario and Mark Henning, better known as The National Trust, are set to release their sophmore album via Thrill Jockey Records on January 24th. Kings & Queens is a healthy, sassy mix of R&B, soul, funk and disco. It’s much in the same fashion as Hey Willpower, but triumphs in a slightly different way by not relying on pop or (not-so) fancy dance moves. The only real problem with the disc is that the vocals get to be a bit tiring after listening to the entire album. Not too worry too much because guest vocals on songs “Jacuzzis” and “Stages” manage to break up the monotony and are a welcoming change.
