DJ Paul V.

I recently received an email from DJ Paul V. who hosts Smash Mix every Friday on L.A.’s Indie 103.1 fm. His sets are fun, 20 minute hyper mixes that blend together pop, indie, hip-hop and new wave. If you like the bands we host here on bigstereo then you’ll love these mixes. Paul V. will keep you smiling and guessing.

This is a great way to start out a Friday and head into the weekend. There is some good stuff in there -

Listen: DJ Paul V. - Smash Mix 6 January 2006 (mp3)

Listen: DJ Paul V. - Smash Mix 30 December 2005 (mp3)

Listen: DJ Paul V. - Smash Mix 9 Decemeber 2005 (mp3)

DJ Paul V. also spins at Bootie: L.A.’s monthly mash-up bootleg party. If you’re in SoCal check that out.

  1. Unfortunately his Friday Smashmixes on Indie 103.1 FM are ruined by a constant barrage of obnoxious station id’s over the music. It’s not uncommon to hear 5-8 station id’s within 10 minutes on his show. This pretty much ruins some otherwise cool mixes.

  2. Well, that’s not exactly true, Wayne. The Indie station ID’s - which I have to include - drop in about every 4-6 minutes - one at the start, then about 4-5 more, total. Plus, they’re all, like, less than 4 seconds long.

There’s no way you’re hearing 8 crammed into 10 minutes tho. And the main reason Indie wants them in there, is for someone stumbling across the mix, so they won’t spazz ‘cuz there’s a Missy Elliot mashup or something - so they know it’s still Indie, just something different.

PS - All the mixes I post for download only have the intro ID, then no more in the mix after that.

  3. forget sour puss(y) up there. these are a great post, and the guy throws down some GREAT tracks. and i know that if i was playing some of MY own remixes, i would put station IDs in there, otherwise ppl would snip them out of the mixes and use them for their own.

thanks for keeping such a great blog.
