Hanin Elias

posted by Rchrd Oh?!

Hanin Elias has been around for a long long time. Kind of quietly, but sneaking up on you like an assasin. It all started with her beginnings with Atari Teenage Riot, then starting her own amazing record label Fatal Recordings(which signed The Vanishing[r.i.p. 2005]), to now her own solo work.
For a time there was that whole ‘Digital Hardcore’ movement, such acts like Lolita Storm came out of that. Angry lyrics and heavy beats ruled the floor. It was anything a digital punk would have dreamed of. She then moved on to concentrate on her own career, it might have been sparked by doing songs with Khan. She’s released a couple albums now, and then bam! She hits you with her newest album ‘Future Noir’. Her style has definately progressed since her first album. It seems she is concentrating more on her vocals now than her Digital Hardcore roots of heavy sampling and hardcore techno beats. The new album still has it’s definate Hanin Elias touch, but then all of a sudden you hear what you would think would be Depeche Mode with Hanin singing. Some songs bring heavy emotions out and make you clench your fist, yet it is all so beautiful. To me Hanin is a fucking queen and an innovator. She is like Courtney Love and Miss Kittin in one, well if they had any sort of message. The album still has it’s political messages and anarchy thoughts. Who can blame her? This world is fucked up, and I’ve never been happier to hear Hanin scream it out and mean it.
