[...] Goldfrapp “Slide In (DFA Remix)” - If you’re a true blue music fiend, you probably grabbed this super-rare DFA remix (only 100 copies pressed to vinyl) when it popped up over on BigStereo earlier this month. And that’s great, that’s cool–Travis and the other good folks at BigStereo deserve mucho props for getting the song up and out to the masses, especially when you consider how many people were apparently chomping at the bit to get their mitts on it the moment the news that such a remix was in the works entered the ether. However, some of you may have noticed that it was a somewhat low-fidelity 64 kbps file. Now, I dunno why that was, ‘zactly–maybe it was all the BigStereo folks could find at the time, maybe they reduced the filesize to make it easier to store on their servers, or perhaps they were asked to only make a lo-fi version of the track available. Whatever the case, I figured I’d go for broke here and offer a markedly, richer, fuller version of the track for your amusement. As a sort of holiday present, let’s say. And we’ll see what happens…. [...]

I'm starting to feel the criticism DFA is getting for some of their newer remixes. The DARE remix is pretty weak and the Hot Chip remix isn't quite doin it for me either. So when pitchfork reviewed this single I kinda just went with it and expected it to be another give-away moneymaker for the label. Thank the lord it isn't. There is something really special about this remix as far as the DFA catalogue is concerned. I'm digging the "more disco than punk," lets lights some candles and turn down the lights, sleazier side of DFA. Goldfrapp knew what she was getting into having this mix made and I think she was most likely just honored to get graced by the legend. The fact that her vocals only accent about three minutes in the track seems arrogant but at the same time who the fuck cares if the track can last without it? There is no rulebook to the re-mix and until then who better than these guys to keep fucking with us.

what do you mean "I'm just not buying the Glam Electro and Dance Punk mash-up". This just sounds like disco to me, it's sexy...or maybe it's just Alison.
Yeah I like this. Thanks.
However DFA did manage to overtake the song. Once again.

Thanks for this. Regardless of the quality, it beats having to use that player at goldfrapp.free.fr to listen to it.

yeah, i'm pretty sure the 64kbps is cutting down on the awesomness... there's a lot of loss there.

but it's better than nothing. i had to turn over every rock just to find that. hopefully something of better quality will surface.

You motherfucking god you. I've been feverishly trying to find this!

Obviously not as good as I was praying it would be, but pretty bloody good all the same. It's quite similar to the Gorillaz remix really.

Also, maybe the 64kbps is cutting out some of the awesomeness?
