I’m not posting the full track because Lady Sov actually wants you guys to go out and buy this one. But. Here’s a sample of Lady Sovereign’s next single “Public Warning” off of her debut album of the same working title.

Pitchfork reports that she signed to Jay-Z’s Def Jam records. Surprise, surprise.

S.O.V. kicked off her North American tour the night before last in Boston. Tonight she hits NYC with surprise guests – all I’m saying is if she’s up there with Jay-Z then I hope somebody will be taking photos.

3. What’s the reaction to her over in the USA? Because in the UK I think she’s seen as a bit of a joke. I don’t really like any of her stuff (even the Jaxx produced stuff and I’m a HUGE Jaxx fan) and can’t understand how the hell she’s got signed to Def-Jam!!!

5. In the UK it was hardly like she was anything, sadly. I became a fan before “9 To 5″ came out, but I’m not really sure how. I just remember one night I heard the A. Brucker and Sinden remix of “Random” and I was hooked. I never saw any videos of hers on TV until “Hoodie” came out, but even then, I only saw it couple times. Pretty much the only reason I hear anything newswise about her is because I’m a big fan and have to search for it. So yeah, the promotion pretty much sucks. But at least in the UK, she’s getting buzz. Which is something, at least.

9. i think people were pretty excited for her – but 9-5 and hoodie haven’t been exactly well received (for good reason). the fader cover and running around with jay z has given her some cred though.

   she’s going to need some careful marketing here or she’s going to end up like a spice girl or vanilla ice.

11. Because I’m a fan of Basement Jaxx I’ve ended up seeing her perform live twice! But I did see a piece about her on T4 the other week, but it was mainly about the Save the Hoodie campaign and they only played about 30 seconds of the video!

13. She was AMAZING last night – well recieved, completely rocked the entire house. Played an encore (Public Warning)

    Everyone I’ve talked to about her seems to love her (here in NYC)… I think because we had Eminem before her, people kind of understand her humor in her lyrics and don’t take her too seriously.

    I’m not sure who was in the house, but I was in the VIP balcony and I saw a few people slink into the backstage area.

    No one performed with her though – just her opening act, and then her, frampster, and their musicians.

    She’s getting a lot of press in the US right now – or atleast in NYC. She’s being pretty well recieved here.

27. san francisco will soon experience the SOV. once at Amoeba for a free in-store, and then the next day, or maybe the day before, at some rave with princess stuporstar. in-store it is! although they are usually, awkward, it seems like she is weird enough to be good during the day on a stage in a record store. maybe? i’ll report back!

47. The only thing that Holly said that was wrong is that she needs to “wear pink and carry puppies”… Lady Sov DOES suck. point blank.
