Tracy + The Plastics

posted by Travis

Sometimes writing about something you love is much harder than writing about something you don’t care about. Tracy + The Plastics’ Culture For Pigeon was my favorite album of 2004. The first track on the album, “Big Stereo,” was my favorite song of 2004. But not just 2004. It is still a favorite track. The first fifty times I heard it, I thought it was rather sad, but over time I came to realize it is actually more than that. It’s about life – living – and is quite brilliant in it’s own understated way.

Culture For Pigeon is quite lyrical for an album of this genre. It almost feels as though it was written/recorded by a singer/songwriter rather than someone who was haphazardly lumped into Electroclash a few years ago.

I know, I know. This is rather old news. But perhaps a couple of you missed it the first time around. It has such a special place in my heart – and you asked.
