Angie Reed
posted by TravisWay back in 2003, Angie Reed (ex-Stereo Total) released an album called The Best Of Barbara Brockhaus. It was a conceptual album about a disgruntal, sexually charged secretary. Barbara Brockhaus was easily my favorite album of 2003. Maybe because I was stuck in a horrible job and just wanted to blast the track “I Don’t Do Dirty Work, Sucka!” and dance on my desk. More likely, it was my favorite because it was the best 2003 had to offer. Hands down.
Angie Reed is back with her sophmore album, XYZ Frequency, due out November 14th on Chicks On Speed Records. The first single off the album is the disco inspired number “Hustle A Hustler.”
Press release:
The concept of XYZ FREQUENCY, as an animation show (to be projected and performed with on stage 1:1) and album, is time and mind travel. Thru worlds inbetween life, death and parallel universes Angie slips thru dimensions into numerous characters. Bass clarinets, saxophones, synthesizers, drum-machines, vibraphones, organs, bass, maul-trommeln, electric and eccentric accoustic guitars breed a new BEAT. Human beat-box, supplies the mic with spit-fire. If you thought previous wordworks worked the wit for her cult figure Barbara Brockhaus, this concoction of vocable charm and instrumentation is likely to ignite the toe tapping, knee slapping, wing flapping, night capping, orb zapping, ur-dapping and art crapping with some hand clapping – ever so more! At a certain point durring the animation performance, an accident brings Angie to “the other side” and back.
