Hell

25 October 2005 :: posted by Travis

The second quarter of the fiscal year is when we start to see a lot of “Greatest Hits” album. Hey, they’re the perfect gift for your favorite winter holiday. “Greatest Hits” or “Best Of” albums are already rolling out for Destiny’s Child, Eminem and NSync. I know you can hardly contain your excitement. But the real surprise of the bunch is Hell’s collection, Monotonie Durch Automation. Hell’s collection is a two disc set which is out on his Gigolo label, of course. Disc one are his ‘classics’ with a few re-worked surprises and edits. Disc two sports remixes of tracks from his album, NY Muscle.

I know, I know. You already have most of these tracks, but, much like Destiny’s Child’s #1, it is nice to have all these tracks in one collection. And it is convient to not have to dig through your entire vinyl collection just to hear that certain Hell song. Somehow Hell, who in recent years seems to have dropped the DJ preface, also makes it work as an album. Not to mention, it is always fun taking a trip down nostalgia lane. It’s a nice refresher course in electro- and tech-house.

Hell’s current project, ‘My Definition Of House’, features 20 all-time house classics released on a 10 part vinyl collection ending in a mixed cd.
