The duo known as The New Rags decribe their music as Ragtime-Pop-Rock. Not too many bands are able to list Scott Joplin, Brian Wilson and Ben Folds as influences. So there is a certain amount of familarity with The New Rags – a certain amount of timeless Americana that somehow seems as relevant now as it did the first time it was created.

The New Rags capture something that has certainly been lost in music for at least a couple generations. It reminds me of M. Ward – how he is able to capture another era in his music. But different.
