“Standing In The Way Of Control” is The Gossip’s finest work. It’s perfectly written. Perfectly recorded. Perfectly produced. Beth Ditto’s voice has never sounded better – live or on recording. Brace Paine’s guitar play is ace. Hannah Blilie’s work on the drums gives new life to The Gossip.

Then if “Standing In The Way Of Control” couldn’t get any better, The Gossip handed it over to post-indie, post-riot grrls Le Tigre to work their magic on the track. Le Tigre run “Standing In The Way Of Control” through the Le Tigre filter – creating a patchwork of sounds and textures. Luckily for us, Le Tigre doesn’t touch Ditto’s vocals – in turn juxtaposing her bluesy, soulful voice against an electro rock backdrop. If this song doesn’t get you dancing then you have no soul.
