Lesbians On Ecstasy
posted by TravisThe hardest past of this post is picking which track to feature. I have to admit that I was not a fan of last year’s self-titled debut by Lesbians On Ecstasy. It did nothing for me. But a year later, Lesbians On Ecstasy have released a vinyl only remix album that makes up for the faux pas of their debut. ‘Giggles In The Dark’ features stellar remixes by bigstereo favorites Tracy And The Plastics, Le Tigre and Scream Club… to name a few. And I was pleasantly introduced to 1-Speed Bike who has one of the standout tracks of the album – which is quite the feat considering most of the tracks are standout tracks.
My problem with most remix albums is that they often seem disconnected. Since all the tracks come from different people, remix albums rarely flow or work as an album. But even though many of the remixers on ‘Giggles In The Dark’ are coming from different places and styles, the album actually works. It’s tied together by a DIY aesthetic and attitude.
Listen: L.O.E. – “The Pleasure Principal” (1-Speed Bike remix) (mp3)
Listen: L.O.E. – “Tell Me Does She Love The Bass” (Sean Kosa's The Jealous Mix) (mp3)
I had the hardest time picking just one track to feature. So here are two. But my advice: buy this album. I can’t stress that enough.
