The Paper Scissors are an Australian band which, according to their bio, flirted with a major label record deal but instead decided to focus and develop their own sound.

“Slow Down Slow Down” is a perfectly woven song. It sounds chaotic and on the verge, but it never manages to unravel or fall apart. At first glance it almost seems like a simple anti-folk song, but “SDSD” is a total multi-layered treat. On repeated listen, there’s a lot more going on there: distorted bass, drowning vox, catchy little guitar line. “SDSD” ends up being a pleasant surprise – at it’s best sounding like A.R.E. Weapons… at it’s worst sounding like Beck. I’m also reminded of another current favorite The Sunshine Underground.

Currently, The Paper Scissors do not have an album or cd for sale. But keep an eye on their website. They should be releasing something soon.
