Clor

August 31st, 2005

Clor is fucking amazing me lately. I have been intensely listening to this album nonstop for like a month now. I just can’t get enough of it. I think it might be because it reminds me of everything i have ever thought was good. It reminds me of driving around in my ‘85 VW Jetta [...]

Jr/Sr

August 30th, 2005

Alright. Junior Senior’s new album, ‘Hey Hey My My Yo Yo’, is currently only coming out in Japan with no US or UK release date… yet. More info on the later…
I’m totally digging the ‘new’ sound of this album. While their debut would probably fall under the indie-dance-rock category, I’d file this one under indie-dance-disco [...]

my ex wife

August 26th, 2005

It’s finally Friday night. Did this week drag or what?
I’ve been trying to decide if I like this record for like two weeks now. In general, I don’t like house music. I am usually bored after the second or third thump. There really has to be something a little more gripping.
Listen: DJ Aguy – “My [...]

Dolly

Dolly Parton
Cumberland County Civic Center
Portland, Maine

I’m not a fan of big arena shows. In fact, if a band I like is playing any venue over 1,000 people I usually skip the show. If I’m not in the first ten rows then what is the point? There are a few performers that are an [...]

you/atom bomb

August 23rd, 2005

I don’t know if You & the Atom Bomb purposely chose their name based on the essay with the same title by George Orwell. Perhaps it’s some political/1984/tongue in cheek/clever reference. Or perhaps it’s just a coincidence.
I don’t know because really there is like no info on this band.
This is what I do know:
a) [...]

Doctor Moog

August 22nd, 2005

Dr Robert Moog, a bigstereo hero, has passed away after a four month battle with brain cancer. Our condolences go to his family and friends.
Many of bigstereo’s favorite bands rely on the inventions of Dr Moog. He helped shape the sound of music for the past thirty years.

The Sunshine Underground part deux

August 21st, 2005

I know it is a little too early to be writing about The Sunshine Underground again. I’ve been holding off a couple days… but I can’t wait anymore. I’m probably jumping the gun on this band because really it’s too hard to judge anything from just a handful of songs. Especially when each song sounds [...]

i give up

August 20th, 2005

I’ve been trying to figure out for two weeks the artist and name of this track:
Mystery Song (mp3)
Even though the whole vocoder/Cher-bot voice thing is bad in a cliche VH1 Best of 1999 way, the song is still totally cute. I love the little polka beat.
I have one random guesses but…
Anyone know?
Problem solved. See [...]

I’ve read about this on every single blog from kop’·ē·kăt’ to Brooklyn Vegan to Productshop NYC to Audio Nerd to everyone else. Seriously.
So unless you’ve been physically removed from a computer for the past 48 hours (like myself) and/or live under a rock…
Listen: “Do They Know It’s Hallowe’en?”

new goldie lookin’ chain

August 18th, 2005

Goldie Lookin’ Chain has a new video out. The boys have done it again. It’s not as wild as “Your Mother Has A Penis” or “Guns Don’t Kill People Rappers Do” or even “Roller Disco”, but still… Funny shit. It’s like weird science gone all wrong. Reminds me of all those great 80’s videos. Directed [...]

new t.a.t.u.

August 17th, 2005

Ok. I know I’m not supposed to like t.A.T.u.
But I do. I love that they’re fake lesbians. I love that one of them looks like Lindsay Lohan sans blonde hair. I love that they go all Aileen Wuornos in their new video. I love Charlize Theron. I love that their songs are so fucking [...]

i want to ride a white horse

August 15th, 2005

Ok. It’s Monday. It’s VERY Monday. I am so short on words today…
But the album that refused to leak has finally leaked. You were starting to doubt that it would leak before the release date. Weren’t you?
Well somewhere between Felt Mountain and Black Cherry is Supernature. The album sounds like Alison Goldfrapp and Will Gregory [...]
