I honestly don’t know how much buzz is building around Lady Sovereign. The only reviews I read were so bad that I had to check her out. And of course I instantly loved her.

She’s kind of like a female Dizzee Rascal. Or Sporty Spice if Sporty Spice rapped. You know… those crazy kids out of East London call it Grime. It’s part reggae, part rap, part garage. Crazy shit. But I’m not an expert. I don’t know.

Her debut should be coming out sometime soon… at least in the UK. Her next single, 9 to 5, is coming out in July. And she’s doing a couple tracks with Basement Jaxx.

    am I the only sane person who has left a comment, and can any of you people spell? Lets use common sence here people, how many rap battles does lady sov have under her belt? Im from the states and few here have even heard of her. Do you all want to know why? because shes not very talented. Her rhymes are as fake as her outfits. Lady Sov needs to spend more time thinkin up new joints rather than thinkin up new hair styles. Turn this music off for good people please. here are some good MC's i hope you'll enjoy.     a year later, i am totally embarassed by the popularity of this post and the comments it has gathered. though i must say i am also slightly amused.

    there have been other lady sov threads on bigstereo that have offered much more interesting discussion. it's kinda sad that this is the one with the most activity.

    I enjoy Lady Sov's music. Though it has no real meaning or feeling. I love the beats and the flow. I don't think she'll go far because in the states it's a bit diff. She'll be hot for a couple of months then she'll be like she says "another Avrill Lavinge" Old and washed out.
