Demon Days
posted by Rchrd Oh?!Lately I have been into the Damon Albarn 2 10″ records. They are all just little cute songs he did while on tour in America, i believe with Blur.
I thought the Gorillaz had come to an end. After all I did see them on tour and although it was a really great time with friends in LA it still didnt completely fulfill my Damon Albarn craving. I did have to stare real closely with my eyes squinted to even see his shadow through the screen at the show. I was hoping to get more of a glimpse of them instead of just their cartoon faces. Visually the show was very stunning but made me feel as though I went to see Sesame Street on Ice or something of that nature.
I remember paying 30 dollars for an import of the first Gorillaz cd, just because I am an impatient fuck, and can’t stand waiting around for American releases especially if they are months after the European releases.
So I have gotten my hands on the new Gorillaz cd now and I am loving it, loving it, loving it. It is way more mature than their last release and i don’t feel its as poppy or dancey. The songs stick though and grow in yr brain like a root. I dare you to take a walk and listen to Demon Days and not bounce your head up and down, in fact dare to listen to DARE and not get a big smile on yr pretty little face.
If you want sounds of the first cd take a listen to Dirty Harry, and if you want a little song that will remind you of the days of smoking pot or hash and listening to Manu Chau take a listen to Feel Good, Inc.
I have always thought Damon had one of the sexiest voices on the planet and on this cd he whispers to you enough that you can feel his breath in yr ear lying next to you on your bed.
To think Oasis is still the same thing, with nothing new to show and yet they still criticize Damon.
